Order of dismantling of the engine by its preparation for carrying out major maintenance It is simplest to make dismantling and engine service after its installation on the portable assembly stand. Such stands always can be rented in a car-care center workshop. Before engine installation on the stand it is necessary to remove from it a flywheel / a driving disk that fixing bolts could be screwed in a face surface of the block of cylinders. In the absence of possibility of use of the assembly stand it is necessary to take care of arrangement of a strong metalwork workbench. As a last resort, dismantling and repair of the engine can be made on a garage floor. Prepare also pair of strong wooden blocks for engine installation on them. In case of works without use of the stand try not to strike on the engine and not to drop it. If you managed to get the restored engine, it is necessary to rearrange on it with old all hinged units and components. Into number of such components enter:
If there is a possibility of acquisition of the reduced set of the engine consisting of the block of cylinders, a cranked shaft and rods with pistons (all assembled), it is necessary to remove from the old unit also a head of cylinders, the case pallet, the oil pump and a gas-distributing belt. By preparation for performance of complete major maintenance dismantling of the engine is recommended to be made in the following order (see appropriate section of the present Chapter if other addressing is not given in brackets): Before the beginning of dismantling of the engine and its preparation for major maintenance make sure available all necessary tools and materials.
